wjla

Wjla TV is reporting a burst watermain the has turned the aptly named River Road near Behtesda into a river. A spokeperson for the water authority said a 66 inch main was the problem.

Wlja have posted various information including video footage on their web site, it can also be viewed at the onDeadline site.

In other news, as reported on fishbowlDC, a leaked wjla internal e-mail from Bill Lord to all staff read:

Reporters, This seems like a good time to remind everyone that their appearance on television is very important. Our studio is now in High Definition. Soon our live shots from the field will be in HD. Viewers will be seeing a great deal more detail as we move into the future. We need to make sure we present ourselves in a positive fashion. Please make sure you are dressed professionally and appropriately. Please make sure your hair is managed as well as circumstances allow. Please take the time to make the correct use of makeup. You should always look like a studio professional when you do on set and in newsroom stand-ups. You should always do your best in the field to overcome the elements. I don't expect miracles, but there have been occasions where it appears little if any attention has been paid to the image we are sending into viewer's homes. Please see me if you have questions.
