Telemark skiing is a term used for skiing using the Telemark turn, a technique invented by Norwegian Sondre Norheim.
Telemark is also known as "free heel skiing." Unlike alpine skiing equipment, the skis used for telemarking have a binding that only connects the boot to the ski at the toes, just as in cross-country skiing.
Telemark turns are led with the heel flat on the outside ski (the downhill ski at the end of the turn), while the inside (uphill) ski is pulled beneath the skier's body with a flexed knee and raised heel. The skis are staggered but not quite parallel, and 50% to 60% of the body weight is distributed on the outside ski, depending on snow conditions.

The Pulitzer Prize winning author and writer, John Updike, died in Massachusetts on Tuesday. His literary wit focussed on American life and he wrote prolifically on the subject, particularly in his four Rabbit novels.
John Updike was also well known for his poetry and short stories many of which graced the pages of the New Yorerk magazine.

John Muir worked to preserve wilderness in America.
John Muir (April 21, 1838 – December 24, 1914) was a Scottish-born American naturalist, author, and early advocate of preservation of U.S. wilderness. His letters, essays, and books telling of his adventures in nature and wildlife, especially in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California, have been read by millions and are still popular today. His direct activism helped to save the Yosemite Valley, Sequoia National Park and other wilderness areas. The Sierra Club, which he founded, is now one of the most important conservation organizations in the United States. His writings and philosophy strongly influenced the formation of the modern environmental movement.

Eddie Curry is being sued for sexual harrassment after his former driver David Kuchinsky alleged he treid to solicit him for gay sex as well as unpaid wages and racial slurs.

The Pritikin Diet was origanally formulated 50 years ago by its founder Nathan Pritikin. He came up with the low fat pritikin diet when he was diagnosed with heart disease and use it to successfully rehabilitate.
The Pritikin diet consists of mainly fruit, wholegrains and vegetables and avoids fatty foods, fast foods, high calorific drinks and recommends a healthy lifestyle as well as taking care over portion sizes.
Although it is a minor bone of contention it does work if the pritikin diet principle is adhered to.
